Penicillin with bread

In this project, I will try producing penicillin-like effects from common bread mold (penicillium)

First I have 4 pieces of bread, that I have isolated with oxygen in a standard plastic bag. Before I closed it, I sprayed some distilled water to moisten it in order to help mold growth, very importantly distilled to not contaminate it. Now we hope that we'll grow penicillium and not aspergillus.

Step 1

Now that the mold has cultured on the bread, i need to transfer it to an agar plate, and culture it there, in order to get a more concentrated mold.

Step 2

The agar is ready with a bunch of mold, now it is time to cut it out and mix it with distilled water, penicillin should be able to dissolve in water.

Step 3

Now i filter the water out through a coffee filter, and suck it up with a syringe.

Step 4

On a new agar plate, i streak my hand around the plate, and then pour some of the penicillium liquid in certain spots on the agar plate.

Step 4

Hypothesis

I expect that the bacteria from my hand will avoid the areas where the penicillium liquid was poured, because it contains penicillin which is used as an antibiotic.
